Faraway Storytelling
Faraway Storytelling is the simple joy of telling a story. Renee will visit with your group and read stories that will engage, entertain and bring joy to your event. With a library full of beautiful story books to choose from, the session will be tailored to your group and with the flick of Renee’s wand, the session will captivate all involved.
A 30 minute session can include up to three stories, some songs or activities in between and a craft activity to take away. These sessions can be tailored for preschool children through to Grade 6.
Faraway Magic
Faraway Magic is an immersive and interactive storytelling experience - bringing stories to life and inspiring a love of reading. An abridged version of a popular story is told, using props and costumes to bring the story to life for children. This concept correlates with the theory developed by Misty Adoniou (PhD, University of Canberra) to inspire a love of reading and writing through the magic of a good book and the benefits of telling a story before reading a story,.
Faraway Magic can be utilised as an introduction to a story or even as a celebration of a story that has been recently completed. Each Faraway Magic session is specifically tailored to the event, the age of the children and the story requested. A complimentary craft or writing activity can also be included.
The current Faraway Magic sessions includes:
The Magic Faraway Tree
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Harry Potter
Jack and the Beanstalk
Mary Poppins
The Wizard of Oz
Charlotte’s Web
Fairy Tales
Faraway Fun
Faraway Fun are interactive and fun activities designed to create excitement around a book. These can include:
Treasure Hunts - with a difference. Not just an ordinary treasure hunt, the Faraway Fun treasure hunts are designed to find mock books from a specific popular story, within a library or bookstore. Search for a biography written by Hermione Granger in a Harry Potter Treasure Hunt or a recipe book written by Willy Wonka. These Treasure Hunts create also can help children become familiar with a library or book store.
Book themed challenges. Imagine having to walk down the Yellow Brick Road in Dorothy’s ruby red slippers or using your magical powers to test out some Hogwarts spells. These challenges are designed to help children appreciate all the magical and exciting parts of a story.
Faraway Workshops
Faraway Workshops are designed to create book themed magic for any age. These can include:
Drawing and writing activities themed to a specific book.
Craft activities ranging from making small fairy decorations through to creating your own life sized Magic Faraway Tree.
Miniature ‘Book House’ decorations - themed to a book or a generic style.
